Audiobooks (raw audio only, i.e. unedited, uncleaned, unmastered)
EXAMPLE:
Job = 80,000 word audiobook script.
80,000 words / 150 wpm = 533 finished minutes
533 finished minutes / 60 = 8.9 finished hours
8.9 finished hours x $250 = $2,225
Audiobooks (edited, cleaned, and mastered to spec per platform)
EXAMPLE:
Job = 80,000 word audiobook script.
80,000 words / 150 wpm = 533 finished minutes
533 finished minutes / 60 = 8.9 finished hours

eLearning Projects
Total Word Count x $0.25 = e-Learning Recording Fee

EXAMPLE:
Job = 35,000 word e-Learning script, saved as 75 individual audio files.
35,000 words x $0.25 per word = $8,750
75 files x $1 = $75
$8,750 + $75 = $8,825
Narrations (online, non-paid ad usage)
Up to 2 Minutes (300 words) = $400
Up to 5 Minutes (750 words) = $500
Up to 10 Minutes (1,500 words) = $600
Up to 15 Minutes (2,250 words) = $750
Up to 20 Minutes (3,000 words) = $850
Up to 30 Minutes (4,500 words) = $1,100
Up to 40 Minutes (6,000 words) = $1,400
***For medical or technical scripts, add 10%.
EXAMPLE:
Job = 2,872 word technical narration script.
2,872 Words / 150 = 19.15 minutes
Up to 20 Minute Rate = $850
10% add-on for technical script = $85
Total Cost for this job = $935
Advertisements
Rates take in to consideration the area or market where the voice-over will be heard, whether it will be used for broadcast or non-broadcast (TV/radio vs. social media, etc) purposes, and the length of time the usage is granted.

Up to 4,500 words = $1,000

Above 40 Minutes = $0.25 per word
EXAMPLE:
Job: 655 word IVR phone script for a local transportation company.
A script containing 655 words would fall within the "Up to 1,000 words" rate of $500.
In this example, the total cost would be $500.

Video Game Voiceovers
$300 per hour. There is a minimum two hours charge for up to two hours of VO work, and a maximum of four hours (prevents vocal strain).
EXAMPLE:
Job: Three hour voiceover session for a new video game series.
Minimum two-hour charge ($600) + additional one-hour charge ($300) = $900.
In this example, the total cost would be $900.
Explainer Videos
90-seconds in length (up to 225 words) = $300
2+ videos - $50 per video discount = $250/video
If script is over 225 words, the rate increases by an additional $50 per every 100 words over 225.
EXAMPLE:
Job = 200 word explainer video script.
In this example, the total cost for this explainer video would be $300.
If the job requested two videos of 200 words each, the total cost would be $500.
If job request is one video of 375 words, the total cost would be $400.
Basic Session Fees for Remote Live Direction
While Source Connect and the like is an amazingly efficient way to capture live audio and transmit it in a pristine state between talent and a remote recording studio, it is not an inexpensive and cost-effective way for freelance talent to do business. This fee helps me defray subscription and infrastructure costs a bit. Thanks very much for understanding.
Basic Session Fee
- For remote direction via Source Connect, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.
- Non-refundable if the Live Directed Session is cancelled by The Client or Studio representative(s) (fully refundable if I cancel).
- Rescheduling a session is acceptable if the new session date is within 3 months of the original session date. If that is unachievable, a full refund shall be given.
Edits and Revisions
- Retakes due to Talent Error: No charge.
- Pickups due to Client's Artistic Preferences (pacing, tone, delivery, etc.): Two rounds included at no charge; afterward, an additional charge of 50% of the original budget per round will apply.
- Minor Script Revisions (10% or less of the final script): The first one is included; afterward, an additional charge of 50% of the original budget per round will apply.
- Major Script Revision (more than 10% of the final script): A new session fee is required.
Lifts ("Cut-downs")
- My definition of a Lift or is "A shorter, strategically edited version of a longer piece of audio content to maximize its impact and reach across different platforms and audiences."
- I'm fine with a Client using a Lift of a longer piece of content, so long as I get paid for the usage of the Lift in addition to the finished full-length recorded audio.
- I include two Lifts at a rate of 50% of the budget of the finished full-length recorded audio, unless otherwise agreed upon in advance.
